Follow-up

It's been a little over a year since Eldon had his accident at work. He went to the Ortho today for his year follow-up. Everything looks great. Besides all the "hardware" in his leg, you can barely tell that he broke it. Dr. Clare said that he is amazed at how fast Eldon has recovered. He still gets a little sore when he's been working too long. But he's got great range-of-motion in his knee and ankle.

Now we have to try and keep is Work Comp. case open. They will of course press us to close it. But with him being 31, Dr. Clare said more than likely in 20 years he will need another surgery to redo everything. And, we do not want to pay for that. I just pray that Work Comp. doesn't get super pushy with us.

Blah-ness

I haven't updated my blog in quite awhile. Ally has been sick for what seems like an eternity. She had croup 2 weeks ago. Then got better, and now she's sick again. I hate this. I feel so bad for her when she's sick. Her poor nose is pouring snot, and her cough sounds horrible. And to top it all off...she's passed it on to my husband! I am a hand-washing fool, so I'm praying I don't get it.

I however, sprained my wrist last week. I was going up a flight of stairs and tripped. I know, horribly embarrassing! I caught myself with my hands, and bent my left wrist back a little too far. I just have to keep it in a brace for a couple more days. It's feeling much better.

We had a fun Valentine's Day. We went shopping with some good friend's. Then we went to Build-a-Bear. Ally made a Panda Bear, which she named Juliette! She got a little back pack for Juliette and she's been wearing her non-stop. She's so cute!!

Evolution vs. Creationism

In my Zoology and Botany classes we have been talking non-stop about Evolution vs. Creationism. I grew up in a religious household, and still continue to be religious. I have always believed that God created the earth and everything in it, in 7 days. These classes have started to make me wonder about the whole controversy with Evolution. There is a lot of scientific data supporting Evolution. So much so it had me thinking...what if the story we've all read in the Bible is just that: a story. I mean I was seriously doubting everything that I grew up believing. Today as I was leaving my Botany lab I got into my car and on the radio came this song....

WOW, was all I could say. This verse pretty much sums it up for me.

Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning?
And who told the ocean you can only come this far?
And who showed the moon where to hide till evening?
Whose words alone can catch a falling star?

It just goes to show me, I should not doubt my faith. I might have to learn these things in school, but it doesn't mean I believe them!

Busy Week

This past week as been crazy busy. Between my classes and Eldon's classes starting then Ally getting sick. She ended up getting Croup this week. The poor thing had the worst cough on Tuesday and Wednesday. So Thursday I took her to see the Doctor. She's such a good little patient. She lets the doctor look in her ears, mouth and nose all without flinching. He listened to her lungs and then heard her barking cough and the Croup diagnose came about. She's was on steroids for the last 3 days, but it hasn't kicked the cough completely. Hopefully it will go away soon.

Classes are going well. Zoology and Botany are a lot of work, but they are fun. I got a B on my first Zoology quiz and A's on the last 2. I have my first big exam for that class tomorrow. And my first Botany exam I got 100% plus got the extra credit question right! I had to learn 15 different plants by the common name, scientific name and their family group.

Math is going to kill me! The professor is so fast speaking that I don't understand him at all. He just breezes right through the entire lecture and just assumes everyone in the class understands what he has said. My husband has been a life saver with helping me though. He's been so patient in explaining the ins and outs of Pre-Calculus. I'm actually understanding it!

And of course my music class is my favorite. It's the easiest. Right now we're just learning different sounds (pitch, melody, harmony etc). If I can't get into the photography class next semester I will definitely take another music class with this professor.
